Description
- Design: The instrument typically has a robust handle and a working end featuring a sharp, angled, triangular blade. The tip is pointed to access tight spaces, and the shank is often curved.
- Function: It operates on the principles of lever, wedge, and wheel and axle to luxate (loosen) the tooth from the periodontal ligament and expand the alveolar bone.
- Use Case: The Cryer is particularly effective in cases where a multi-rooted tooth has been sectioned or fractured, and one root remains in the socket. The tip is inserted into the empty socket of the removed root (e.g., the mesial root of a mandibular molar) to engage and elevate the remaining root (e.g., the distal root) using the interseptal bone as a fulcrum.
- Material: Cryer elevators are typically made from surgical-grade stainless steel, making them durable, corrosion-resistant, and fully sterilizable (autoclavable).
Speciation (Variations)
The primary speciation of the Cryer elevator is based on its orientation to allow access to different areas of the mouth:
- Left and Right versions: These are the most common variations, designed with specific angles to efficiently access the posterior regions on either the left or right side of the mandible.
- Numbered Variants: The instruments are often referred to by numbers, such as #44 and #45, which denote specific sizes or angles of the working tip.
- Handle Design: While the working end is consistent, the handle design can vary, including standard hollow handles or "crossbar" (T-bar) handles, with the latter providing enhanced grip and torque for stubborn cases.

xReturns Policy
You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
If you need to return an item, simply login to your account, view the order using the "Complete Orders" link under the My Account menu and click the Return Item(s) button. We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.
