Description of Components
Each forceps is composed of three main parts:
- Handle: This is the part grasped by the operator, often serrated or ergonomically designed to provide a secure, non-slip grip and allow for controlled force.
- Hinge: The hinge connects the two parts of the forceps and transfers the force from the handle to the beaks.
- Beaks (or Jaws): These are the functional ends designed to fit snugly around the cervical (neck) portion of a specific tooth or root, engaging the root surface beneath the gum line to provide a firm grasp.
Specifications (Key Features)
- Material: Forceps are typically made from high-grade, surgical stainless steel (e.g., German Stainless Steel or AISI 420 French Stainless Steel) for durability, corrosion resistance, and longevity.
- Reusability/Sterilization: They are fully reusable and designed to withstand repeated sterilization in an autoclave, a high-temperature process required for medical instruments.

Design Variations: Different forceps feature specific designs based on their intended use:
- Maxillary (Upper) Forceps: These typically have a straight or S-shape configuration to align with the upper arch, with the handle and beaks on the same plane.
- Mandibular (Lower) Forceps: These often have a handle that is at a near 90-degree angle to the beaks to allow access to the lower teeth from an operator's standing position.
- Beak Design: Beaks are smooth or have pointed hooks designed to fit into the root bifurcations of molars (e.g., cow-horn forceps for lower molars) or are smooth and concave for single-rooted teeth.
- Ergonomics: Many modern sets feature weight-optimized or anatomical handles to minimize hand strain and improve operator comfort and control during procedures.

- Upper Anteriors/Canines (Fig. 1, 99, 150): Straight design with narrow, conical beaks.
- Upper Premolars (Fig. 7): Slight S-shape and broader beaks.
- Upper Molars Right & Left (Fig. 17/89 Right, 18/90 Left, 53L/R): S-shaped with one pointed beak for the buccal root bifurcation and a smooth palatal beak.
- Lower Anteriors/Roots (Fig. 74N): Right-angle hinge (English pattern) with smooth, close-fitting beaks.
- Lower Premolars (Fig. 13): Right-angle design with slightly broader beaks than anteriors.
- Lower Molars (Fig. 22, 23, 73): Right-angle design, often with pointed beaks on both sides to engage the buccal and lingual root bifurcations.
- Root Forceps (Fig. 51A, 65, 69): Long, narrow beaks designed to reach into the socket for removing retained root fragments.
- Pedodontic Forceps: Smaller versions designed specifically for children's primary teeth.

Shipping & Return
xReturns Policy
You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
If you need to return an item, simply login to your account, view the order using the "Complete Orders" link under the My Account menu and click the Return Item(s) button. We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.
Shipping
We can ship to virtually any address in the world. Note that there are restrictions on some products, and some products cannot be shipped to international destinations.
When you place an order, we will estimate shipping and delivery dates for you based on the availability of your items and the shipping options you choose. Depending on the shipping provider you choose, shipping date estimates may appear on the shipping quotes page.
Please also note that the shipping rates for many items we sell are weight-based. The weight of any such item can be found on its detail page. To reflect the policies of the shipping companies we use, all weights will be rounded up to the next full pound.
